Grand Canyon Village has been a real place since before most people thought of the South Rim as a destination. Kolb Studio has hung on the rim since the early 1900s. El Tovar's dining room opened in 1905 and is still serving. The Bright Angel Trailhead has sent people down into the canyon and brought them back up for longer than the national park has existed.
